Description: 15k OOTYULRA will be run on mountain roads with close to 12 km of non-repeating sections. The first 5 km is held on flat roads before the ascent to Dodabetta Peak begins at 6 km. The climb continues through about 10 km with 488 m of elevation gain and 317 m of elevation loss.
Route & Elevation: Runners reach the second-highest peak in South India as daylight breaks, offering panoramic views of the blue mountains, Ooty town, the lake, and the racecourse. After 10 km the course descends toward the four-roads junction and then to Kothagiri, finishing at the Tea Garden at 15 km.
Distance accuracy: The 15k is approximate with +/- 1 km variance because of measurement vs GPS differences.
Expo & logistics: #ultramalaivasi expo and bib collection are held at Hotel Tamil Nadu (Wenlock Road, near Charring Cross). The finish area is Government Tea Park in Battarkambai (~8.3 km from the start).
Aid stations: Every 4-5 km with electrolytes, water, banana, lemon & salt, oranges, and more.
Gear: Bib worn on the chest, a working mobile phone with the event emergency number, and layered clothing (headscarf and gloves recommended for mountain mornings). The pre-race briefing is at 4:30 pm on Saturday at the expo.
